The Valencia Club de Fútbol – A Successful La Liga Club

The Valencia Club de Fútbol or more simply known as Valencia C.F. is one of the successful La Liga clubs. This Spanish professional football club based in Valencia, Spain has indeed won six La Liga titles. Thus, it is also one of the most popular clubs in the top professional association football league.

But the club doesn’t only now possess six La Liga titles. The club also possesses seven Copa del Rey trophies, two Fairs Cups, one UEFA Cup, one UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup, two UEFA Super Cups and two Spanish Super Cups.

Valencia C.F. also made it to two UEFA Champions League finals but was only beaten by another La Liga club Real Madrid and then Bundesliga club Bayern Munich. The club has been also a member of the G-14 group of leading European football clubs.

Valencia C.F. has been also active in other league events while into La Liga. It has been trying to be the best professional football club.

But Valencia C.F. has been mainly into La Liga. And in La Liga this term, the club snatched third place with the help of Valencia manager Unai Emery who signed a new contract with the club after securing such place in the league.

With the performance of the club in La Liga this term, Emery must be satisfied and must be anticipating another good performance from the club the next season and therefore signed a new contract to be with the club for another season.

Emery moved to Valencia in 2008 and he was indeed from Almeria then. And now the manager is still with the club after more or less two years. Emery must be simply happy to be with Valencia. And most likely still has some club goals to attain.

Broken Term Beckons For Spurs And Arsenal

The stadium in London will be the scene of the highly anticipated North London derby live streaming football match as the two teams will have much on the line where they cannot afford to fail. After unexpectedly falling to Portsmouth in the FA Cup semi final at Wembley, Spurs boss Harry Redknapp called upon his team to show their fans what they are made of by bouncing back with a win against the Gunners. The club are in a tough position, with spirits bound to be low after losing in the FA Cup semi final at Wembley prior to the game and now having to ensure they do not lose their way in the Premier League. At stake is the Champions League spot that they have been yearning for whole season long. Having grabbed that all important position a few weeks ago only to lose it again with the resurgence of Manchester City, Redknapp will hope that his players can recover quickly to force themselves back into the reckoning. Without the FA Cup to play for, Spurs only have the carrot of the elite European tournament left. In terms of their long term future, Redknapp will be hoping that another failure this season will not mean a serious rebuilding of a squad torn apart by unfulfilled aspirations.

The same situation could be said of Arsenal. The past two weeks have seen the Gunners fall from the heights of ecstacy to the depths of despair. Expectations and hopes were raised prior to that when the Gunners were buoyant after restoring their title hopes and could look forward to a Champions League quarterfinal with the trophy holders. But Europe is now again a distant dream after Barcelona left them with nothing except an improbable Premier League title to play for. But if there is one thing to be said about the Gunners this season, it is that this is a team that is full of character and determination. And showing the same character in beating Spurs for the North London bragging rights and a sustained shot at the title will prove to the critics that they truly cannot be written off under any circumstances. The injury crisis that ended their Champions League dreams prematurely will remain a factor in the league but it is something they have to deal with no matter what.

The form book usually gets thrown out the window for any derby in football and this will be no different. Other than the blip in the FA Cup, where they lost to relegated Portsmouth, Spurs have generally played well recently. Arsenal may not have been in exemplary form that their results have suggested yet that is not something that will matter in terms of the end result. If they can beat Spurs again with a last minute winner from one of their players, Arsenal will accept the result with both hands. If nothing, champions from every era have shown that success against adversity is the mark of one. Gunners manager would not refuse doing so using his philosophy but at this crucial stage, a win would be the only thing that matters. To end the season without a place in the Champions League after showing the greatest of promise could be devastating for Spurs’ future as a club that has evergrowing ambition.

Arsenal Hungry To Overcome Obstacles Against Spanish Champions

Fears that Pep Guardiola and Arsene Wenger might take a cautious approach to their teams’ encounter in the Champions League have been lessened by the managers’ statements. The Catalan club have always stuck to their same approach since they keep winning even if it might not be defensively the best. Manager Pep Guadiola has had the benefit of the Barcelona system of play that means that the players fit into it, much like how the Dutch had their total football. Even though Iniesta will be their biggest casualty for the first game at the Emirates Stadium, Guardiola has many ready-made replacements. A selection headache would be his main issue since he has to pick one player to come in.

Arsenal manager Wenger has never once asked his players to play with a desire not to lose. Rather, the Gunners manager believes that football should be played beautifully and his players should do so to win. That would allow his players to show what they can do with the ball in an attacking sense with quality such as Cesc Fabregas, Samir Nasri, Bendtner, Eduardo and Arshavin. Wenger might have some worries over the fitness of Fabregas. However he is confident the lynchpin of the team will be ready to lead his current club against his former team. There are inextricable links between Arsenal and Barcelona but professional duty will be adhered to.

Two past legends from the London club will feature in each of the two teams involved in the Barca vs Gunners live streaming online and there will be references to their past. Frenchman Thierry Henry was part of an effervescent Arsenal team that dominated English football for a considerable time. The striker is now with Barcelona playing out his twilight years. Sol Campbell left and rejoined the Gunners and will face Barcelona again after having been involved in the 2006 Champions League and scoring the sole Gunners goal in that defeat. There will be high emotions for the two players but for 90 minutes, they will only have winning on their minds.

Soccer Jerseys Still Popular Despite Credit Crunch

Soccer jerseys are now one of the most popular sportswear items in the world and this is purely down to the massive and ever increasing popularity of the sport. Soccer really has become the number one supported sport in the world which has increased fans interest in different soccer jerseys.  Every team has at least a home and away jersey but many often have a 3rd jersey, usually used for playing in some sort of competition like the Champions League.

Most fans buy at least one of the jerseys for their club sometimes getting the name and number of their favourite players on the back of their jersey, or indeed their own custom name and number. What has been increasing though is the interest in not just your teams but also other teams jerseys from around the world, with Premiership soccer jerseys in particular being very popular at the moment largely due to the fame of players like Cristiano Ronaldo and Fernando Torres.

The top teams in the world usually change their jerseys either every year or every two years meaning that the designs are always having to change. One of the biggest changes we have seen over the last few years is the move towards synthetic materials for making jerseys. Soccer jerseys had previously been made of cotton but this stuck to players when they began to sweat so new materials have been developed for the jerseys that make them absorb less moisture which makes it more comfortable to wear whilst playing soccer.

Major international competitions like the World Cup are major sporting events on the soccer calendar and give fans the chance to support their country.  International soccer jerseys are very popular throughout the competitions as it allows fans to show their support for their country or their favourite player.

The top football jersey manufacturers in the world are Nike, Adidas, Umbro and Puma but more and more manufacturers are starting to come on the scene most notably the like of Lotto and Canterbury have began to grab themselves a foothold in the market.

With the soccer season just finishing we are just about to get to the time of year when the new jerseys are getting released. A lot of the new soccer jerseys will be available for pre-order at the moment with the official release date likely to be towards the end of June for most shirts.

He’s the best player in the world and one of the best in football history. He’s content and that’s why he’s playing the way he is”. Leo joined Barca as a youth team player back in 2001 during which he won a host of trophies. He also played a leading role in the club’s recent unprecedented title treble – the Primera Liga, Copa del Rey and Champions League. Scoring 38 goals in the three competitions, and helping with 16 assists, Messi is now a popular choice to succeed Cristiano Ronaldo as FIFA World Player of the Year this December.

The striker’s contract with Barca was to expire in 2014, but he signed a new one that keeps him with the club until 2016, which will probably be the best years in his career. Ending all speculation, Leo claimed, “I want to spend all my career here, in Barcelona, if it’s possible. I would love to finish at Barcelona. This contract is a result of everything that happened last year and of what I have done since coming into the first team. I am simply one more person in this spectacular group of players, where there is a team that is very nice, very united and in which I am simply part of continuing to win things”. According to the new deal, Messi’s release clause increases from 150million Euros to 250million Euros.

Laporta declared, “This is the best news Barca can receive today. It is important to have a player with his human qualities and his football ability. This deal recognizes all that he gives to Barcelona. It is impossible to imagine the team without a player like Messi. We expect Leo to retire here with Barca.” This announcement was expected for some time now and coach Pep Guardiola joined in to express his delight, “It’s an immense piece of news for the club and for the player that Messi is renewing his contract, as it also was when Victor Valdes and Xavi did so. People go to football to see the best and that’s what they are. It’s a privilege for Barca to have some of the best footballers like Messi.”

Next on the club president’s list is captain Carles Puyol, whose services he also hopes to retain at Camp Nou. There have been rumors that the captain is not too happy ever since Barca acquired Ukrainian defender, Dmytro Chygrynskiy. Laporta asserted, “I am convinced that Puyol is keen to end his career at Barca. But I also understand that a player of his age examines the possibility of having an experience outside of Spain.” Let’s see how the cookie crumbles over the next couple of months.

Champions League Reaches Semi Final Stages

Once again there are three English Clubs in the semi finals of the Champions League and all three have arrived playing some of the best football of their respective seasons. Under normal circumstances, bookmakers would make an English Club winning the Trophy an ‘odds on’ bet, but such is the talent of the Barcelona team, that they are finding it difficult to take them on, therefore, it is the Spaniards who are currently favourites to win the most prestigious trophy in European football.
Barcelona under coach, Josep Guardiola, have been breaking record after record this season. They have become a goal machine, scoring five times or more in nine matches and have broken the La Liga scoring record in the process with stillseveral games remaining in the season. If Guardiola is the inspiration off the pitch, then it is surely the brilliant Argentinian, Lionel Messi, who is the inspiration on it.
Cristiano Ronaldo of Manchester United might well be officially the best player in the world, but Messi is for many the unofficial version and will undoubtedly claim the crown from Ronaldo later in the year. Messi controls the tempo of the team and it appears that everything he touches turns to gold, whether it be shooting, passing, dribbling or just space making. There has not been one team this season who has found the answer to controlling him and if one is not found soon, then Barcelona may as well be given the trophy now and none of the remaining English sides will fancy facing him or his team mates, particularly Chelsea who face barca in the Semi Finals.
Chelsea will be the first of the English teams to take on them in the forthcoming semi final. They play the first leg at Nou Camp and Barcelona have already been installed as odds on favourites to win the leg. Chelsea however, under coach Gus Hiddink are a rejuvenated outfit, with a defence that on its day is second to none. They have players of the calibre of Michael Essien, who they will place on Messi in the same way as he was placed to great affect against Steven Gerard of Liverpool in the quarter final first leg at Anfield where they won convincingly 3-1.
If Essien can negate the threat of Messi then Chelsea will be in with a great chance to shock the footballing world, particularly as their key striker, Didier Drogba and key midfielder, Frank Lampard are back to their scoring best.
In the other tie, Manchester United will take on old rivals Arsenal in a two leg all English tie that quite frankly could go either way. United, barring a little glitch last month have been the most consistent and efficient team in the Premier League this season, while Arsenal, who have been injury hit have now got back most of their key players and are on a long run of 19 unbeaten games.
Whatever the outcomes of both matches, it is fair to say that the best four teams in Europe have all justified their presence and all are extremely capable. However, it looks like Barcelona will justify the faith of the Bookmakers and win the trophy for the third time in their history. However, with five fascinating games to go, including the final in Rome on 27th May their are sure to be plenty or twists and turns and excitement for the fans.
