How to be a soccer star
How to be a soccer star
To be a soccer star you need to take responsibility for your own future. Of course you need great coaching to show you the skills and techniques you need to master, but in the end its you who have to master the skills, techniques and tactics to become that player. For this it helps to have the right frame of mind. By this I mean a willingness to be highly coachable. Your coach will really like this and want to help you as much as he or she can. I would also highly recommend learning how to critique your own skills and game performance. Make a mental note of the mistakes you made in your last game and work on them during the week. It really helps if you have a partner to practice with. Seek perfection. 100% perfection is of course not always possible but the difference between good players and great players is consistency. The best players preform consistently well week in and week out. The only way to preform skills well under pressure and consistently is to own the skills. This means you have mastered the skills so thoroughly that you can preform them spontaneously in the game. To own your skills you have to practice them as much as possible on your own as well as in team practices and in games. If you ask any great player in any sport they will tell you they have spent countless hours on individual technique training. Remember that perfect repetition is the mother of perfection.
Watch the best teams and players in the world play such as Lionell Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo and try to immitate certain aspects of their game. In the end you can only be yourself, but you can gain emormously by picking up subtle aspects of great players games, their superior technique, their first touch on the ball, their great vision and how they play on their toes. Remember if you want to be the best learn from the best.
It is a good idea to have a picture in your mind of how you want to play. Envision yourself preforming skills flawlessly, then don’t quit until you get there. Its not as far away as you might think.

Champions League Reaches Semi Final Stages
Once again there are three English Clubs in the semi finals of the Champions League and all three have arrived playing some of the best football of their respective seasons. Under normal circumstances, bookmakers would make an English Club winning the Trophy an ‘odds on’ bet, but such is the talent of the Barcelona team, that they are finding it difficult to take them on, therefore, it is the Spaniards who are currently favourites to win the most prestigious trophy in European football.
Barcelona under coach, Josep Guardiola, have been breaking record after record this season. They have become a goal machine, scoring five times or more in nine matches and have broken the La Liga scoring record in the process with stillseveral games remaining in the season. If Guardiola is the inspiration off the pitch, then it is surely the brilliant Argentinian, Lionel Messi, who is the inspiration on it.
Cristiano Ronaldo of Manchester United might well be officially the best player in the world, but Messi is for many the unofficial version and will undoubtedly claim the crown from Ronaldo later in the year. Messi controls the tempo of the team and it appears that everything he touches turns to gold, whether it be shooting, passing, dribbling or just space making. There has not been one team this season who has found the answer to controlling him and if one is not found soon, then Barcelona may as well be given the trophy now and none of the remaining English sides will fancy facing him or his team mates, particularly Chelsea who face barca in the Semi Finals.
Chelsea will be the first of the English teams to take on them in the forthcoming semi final. They play the first leg at Nou Camp and Barcelona have already been installed as odds on favourites to win the leg. Chelsea however, under coach Gus Hiddink are a rejuvenated outfit, with a defence that on its day is second to none. They have players of the calibre of Michael Essien, who they will place on Messi in the same way as he was placed to great affect against Steven Gerard of Liverpool in the quarter final first leg at Anfield where they won convincingly 3-1.
If Essien can negate the threat of Messi then Chelsea will be in with a great chance to shock the footballing world, particularly as their key striker, Didier Drogba and key midfielder, Frank Lampard are back to their scoring best.
In the other tie, Manchester United will take on old rivals Arsenal in a two leg all English tie that quite frankly could go either way. United, barring a little glitch last month have been the most consistent and efficient team in the Premier League this season, while Arsenal, who have been injury hit have now got back most of their key players and are on a long run of 19 unbeaten games.
Whatever the outcomes of both matches, it is fair to say that the best four teams in Europe have all justified their presence and all are extremely capable. However, it looks like Barcelona will justify the faith of the Bookmakers and win the trophy for the third time in their history. However, with five fascinating games to go, including the final in Rome on 27th May their are sure to be plenty or twists and turns and excitement for the fans.
Is There a Crisis in Real Madrid?
After Coach Bernd Schuster missed a voluntary training exercise this past weekend and only 5 players showed up as well, many believe this and many other issues are a reflection of crisis in “The Whites” club. After being defeated by a third division club (Real Irún) which caused them the elimination out of the Kings Cup and falling 1-0 against Real Valladolid on November 15th, Coach Schuster gave his team a forced 2 day break to relax and plan for the clubs next steps. The word “crisis” echoes all over the Bernabeu Clubs front lines; there is no secret among the fans and sports media regarding the situation with player’s performance, but why? Has the club lost interest in the Spanish League? Is the physical preparation to average for the squad? Perhaps these and many other issues have taken the elite club down the hill for a moment. What are the main problems that have affected the club this year? And have them paying the bills almost finishing this 2008? Well, to start with the club is famous for signing the best players in the planet, no matter the costs or political issues involve. The fact that Cristiano Ronaldo decided to remain in the Manchester United instead of signing the multi-million dollar contract with The Whites; left many wondering that perhaps the economical aspect was not the cause for the transaction to failed, but more of social phenomena. The Real Madrid waited for to long for Cristiano Ronaldo to change his mind and by the time he rejected the offer, possible contracts with David Villa or Santi Cazorla were already lost. Now, the issues with Robinho escalated way more than the club expected, and at the end he left. Since the club was not prepared when Robinho, the only player they could signed during that moment was Rafael Van der Vaart, who is a great striker, but Robinhos position in the field was hard to replace. The clubs main objective this 2008 season was based on high performance and less injuries; now in days the club is cursed with casualties, but the one who has and will affect the club the rest of the season is the possible 9 month period without striker Ruud van Nistelrooy, who seriously injured his knee recently. Coach Bernd Schuster has also been distant and reserved with the media, especially after some comments on his replacement by the end of the season and others regarding his lack of faith with players of Real’s “First Team” , whom Schuster has not paid much attention, if none at all since he began coaching the A team. The team is only two points away to take the lead on the board and they are performing well on the Champions league, so claiming that there is no crisis at all seems out of the question, since an elite club like Real Madrid speaks with performance and not controversy.
How to choose the football shirt you need
The football shirt shops are today all over. You can find them easily, wherever you are, even if you are visiting a foreign country and city. There is no big mall or open market that doesn’t have football shirts of your favorite team. If you just want to buy a memorabilia of your favorite team things are easy for you, but if you are looking for football shirts for your team, if you are a player or coach, then things get a little more complicated
When choosing materials and football shirt style for your team’s uniform then you need to take some pointers under consideration. Sport kits have evolved throughout years and there are more and more elements that can influence your selection and choice. First of all you need to find the right fabric; the material should be comfortable, practical and soft. It should allow the skin and body to breathe and it should absorb sweat, without allowing the skin feel cold. Technology has contributed to the evolution of sports paraphernalia, so it’s a good idea to look for something modern.
Since international football rules dictate that shirts should be tucked in to the shorts, you should always make sure that shirts are long enough. Both shirts and pants should be of a more tapered pattern. The size and style of shirts is probably a personal issue, however the famous Lineman’s cut – standing for tighter jersey that hugs the body – is supposed to be better for amateur and professional players who run a lot. If you prefer football shirts with particular inserts make sure that they are placed on both shirts and pants; they look better. If you cherish good looks, then you are can definitely check the football kits that use different colors or even graphics; diversity is fun and catchy, so if you are up to it, there are many shirts designs that can please you. There is absolutely no reason to choose a typical red or blue shirt with a white number and maybe a white pair of pants as well. If you want to be different, make sure you show that even with your outfits.
If the football shirt store you visit is good, there should be a wide array of options available. In any case you should be able to choose the color you prefer; sport uniforms reflect the character of your team and are a means of expression. You can be unique, elegant and very athletic at the same time. If you cannot find what you are looking for, then you can maybe ask to have the football kit customized. Most stores work with manufacturers, thus, they can meet your needs and expectations easily. A good manufacturer will have the ability and experience to create the football shirt and pants you need, based on your particular specifications and requirements. The right chosen football kit allows you to enjoy the game as much as possible, so it should be functional and comfortable. Showing off is part of the game too, so don’t underestimate the power of impression.
History of American Football : Past and Present
American football emerged from the European game of Rugby in 1879. Walter Camp, a player and coach of Yale University, is recognized as “The Father Of American Football” as the early rules of the game was instituted by him. However, previous to that, the students of Princeton were already playing a game called “Ballown”. It was about fisting the ball and then using their feet to advance the ball past their opponents. There were no hard and fast rules that applied and could be stated as the easiest form of football at it’s early times. However, the physical aspect of the game was immense and often it turned violent.
At Harvard too, a football-type game was being played on the first Monday of the school year. This game was so much physical that the day it was played was often mentioned as “Bloody Monday”. The year 1865 was very important for American Football. The Civil War had ended and football started gaining popularity in the colleges. It was in this year that some basic rules for the game were established and the game got its patent for the first time. Thus on 6th November, 1869 the first inter-collegiate football was played between Rutgers and Princeton where Rutgers won by a score of six goals to four.
In 1873, the Intercollegiate Football Association was formed by the representatives of Columbia, Rutgers, Princeton, and Yale. Till then, the increasingly popular game was being played with many different rules. The association brought into effect the first set of rules of intercollegiate football which allowed fifteen players in each team. However, it was Walter Camp, a coach at Yale, who began the final process of evolution from rugby like game to what we know today as the American Football. The number of players was reduced to eleven and the standard size of the field was set to hundred and ten yards. A little later downs were introduced and tackling below the belt was legalized.
However, the violent physical challenge that the game demanded, caused many serious injuries and deaths in the next few years. As a result, though still gaining popularity, football was banned in many colleges. In 1905, under a directive from President Theodore Roosevelt, Yale, Harvard and Princeton setup a couple of meetings between schools and formed a seven member Rules Committee which was later came to be known as National Collegiate Athletic Association, or the NCAA.
American Football has now become a multi-billion dollar industry. With the advent of cable television, the game have crossed the boundaries of America and spread its wings all over the world. Dozens of games both collegiate ad professional are aired almost every Friday and Saturday afternoons and Sunday and Monday nights during the football season. The super Bowl, that decides the national champion, has become the most watched sporting event of all times. Plenty of merchandise and football products have taken the markets by storm. Quite a number of innovative products are often offered as token gifts and memorabilia. Even free American Football ecards can be found over the net . Some like 123greetings has an entire category dedicated to the game .
Thus from the humble past where football only meant throwing or kicking a ball past the opponents, American Football has emerged as a game which has influenced the culture and economy of the United States of America.

How to Play Fantasy Football?
The NFL season would seem incomplete nowadays without the presence of Fantasy Football. When you play fantasy football, you have become the owner and coach of a football team. It is hard to remember what a NFL game was like without every play having fantasy football implications.
As the owner, you can assemble a team of stars and role players, attempting to find the right balance of players to accumulate stats to score well in your league. As the team’s coach, you attempt to pick the right starting lineup for that week’s games, making sure that your best players aren’t sitting on the bench and you are not starting any player that is Out due to an injury or Bye week.
For anyone interested in starting a league, all you need are a few basic guidelines to get started. The beauty of fantasy football is that there really isn’t any set set up that you are required follow. It’s your fantasy league, so design it any way you want. Of course, you are limited to the creativity of the website that you have chosen.
Your league may prefer to play in a free, generic league. You will have many websites to choose from for that. On the other hand, you may want to full-service website with many flexible configuration options and dedicated customer service personnel. If that describes your league, you will want to look at Maximum Fantasy Sports. Ultimately, to enhance your NFL viewing experience, participating in a fantasy football league at MFS, or elsewhere, will allow you to do that. Okay, now let’s take it step by step and get you started. Bear in mind, this article would look like War and Peace if we covered every single nuance of fantasy football, so we are going to focus on the highlights.Gather Friends to Fill out a League
Assemble a league of football owners who are willing to participate through the end of your fantasy season. It makes it more enjoyable if they are willing to wheel and deal, wager a little money and talk a bit of smack. There is no set number of teams per league, but 12 teams seem to be the standard. You can certainly form leagues that are bigger and smaller than that, but make sure that you have an even-number of teams if you are playing in a head-to-head league as no one wants to take a week off. If you are playing in a Total Points league with no direct matchups, an odd number of teams is acceptable.Decide who’s Running the ShowElect a commissioner. The commissioner should be somebody who every team owner respects, or at least trusts. The commissioner, who most likely also owns a team in the league, is responsible for the league constitution, bylaws, configuration and all final decisions. The commissioner also collects and distributes the league contributions and maintains the peace. A good website will grant the commissioner a set of tools that allow him/her with the power to control what functions the owners are allowed to perform (managing their roster, posting messages), to manage another owner’s roster, rerun stats and many other controlling functions.Configuring the League
Setting the scoring system and rules for your league are very important. There are many variations to the game and scoring systems for fantasy football are as different as the NFL and Arena Football Leagues. Make sure all rules and settings are set in stone before the draft is held. This article could go one for many, many pages just discussing the variety of different scoring configuration options available in fantasy football. Let’s take a peek at the most basic settings.
Ultimately, it all comes down to how scoring is set up. Though many early leagues focused simply on touchdowns, most leagues nowadays award points for touchdowns and yardag. Four points are commonly awarded to any player who throws a touchdown pass and six points for rushing or receiving touchdowns. One point is commonly awarded for every 25 passing yards and every 10 rushing or receiving yards. It is tempting to go with the feast-or-famine approach and draft a QB and his main WR. Often, this is a bad idea, unless, of course, you have Tom Brady and Randy Moss on your fantasy team. Some leagues also give bonus points for longer TDs, such as, two points for TDs between 50 and 81 yards and three points for TDs over 81 yards.
The size of rosters also varies from league to league. Most leagues have a fixed number of starting positions and a fixed number of bench players, usually adding up to 15-17 players. The starting positions (slots) usually feature one QB, two RBs, three WRs, one TE, one K and one D. Variations include using Special Teams or individual defensive players instead of a single defense. Also, “swing” positions are becoming more prevalent. These are also known as “flex” positions. This slot allows for more than one position. The swing positions often used are a combination of WR/TE or RB/WR, though there are a handful of others. In the end, the accumulated points of one team’s starters are matched up against the points of another team’s starters and the end result is either a victory or a loss.
Occasionally, a tie will sneak its way into the picture. A good website will give you the option of breaking ties during the regular season. Tie-breakers are mandatory should they occur during the playoffs.Set the Schedule
The website should generate the league schedule after the draft is complete using the divisional structure the commissioner has established. League schedules are generally set up so teams in the same division play each other more often than other divisions. Ultimately, it is ideal to have a balanced schedule. Before the draft, the playoff schedule needs to be determined. This will vary depending on how many teams are in your league and how many teams the commissioner chooses to make the playoffs. The championship game needs to be scheduled between two teams no later than week 17 of the NFL season. One common choice is to finish the fantasy football regular season in week 13 or 14 and allow 6 teams to make the playoffs. This will grant the top 2 teams a playoff Bye, thus awarding them for their performance in the regular season. No one likes to dominate the regular season and then lose out in the first week of the playoffs.
Drafting your Players
Rosters are filled out by running a player draft. The draft order is randomized by the commissioner or the website. Unlike the NFL draft, fantasy football drafts are normally run serpentine style. For instance, in a 12-team league, the draft order would be 1 through 12, with the 12th team having the first pick of the second round and going back up in reverse order. In that scenario, the first team to pick wouldn’t select again until the 24th pick, but would then start the third round with the 25th selection, should they not fall asleep during the lull. Should this happen, the draft control will make the selection for the snoozing owner.
Drafts can be held online or offline. If held online, drafts are normally held real-time so each owner can make their choices based on how the draft is evolving. This can be a bit time-consuming, so another option is to run an automated draft. An increasingly popular draft method is having a fixed budget and bidding on players to fill out a roster.
Maintaining your Roster
Throughout the season, you will need to change players out in an effort to manage injuries, Bye weeks or address weak areas by trading from areas of strength. Teams can trade and pick up free agents until the end of the season, unless there are deadlines established for these actions. Trades tend to have some sort of approval process in place to assure the league that trades are considered fair. The approval process generally falls on the shoulders of the commissioner to make a decision or upon the owners in the league to submit a vote (majority rules).
When it comes to free agents, it is common for leagues to apply a waiver system. True free agents can be acquired without application of any rules. Players attempted to be acquired that are in waiver status have to flow through waiver processing to determine which team will be awarded the player. There are a number of waiver processing rules.
The most common is a rolling priority list. This is initially established in the reverse order of the draft order and then gets adjusted as teams acquire players in waiver status. The team with the lowest waiver priority number is awarded the player desired when waiver processing occurs. When that processing happens, the team’s waiver priority is then set to the highest number and all teams between have their number adjusted down by one. Other waiver processing options allow teams to bid on free agents, award a player on waivers to the team with the worst record among acquiring teams or have made the least numbers of transactions.Making your Push to the Championship
It is very difficult to make the playoffs, let alone the Championship game, in a fantasy football league without devoting a lot of time to the game, making wise draft and transaction choices and having your players stay healthy. You have no control over the latter, so your team must be equipped to handle devastating injuries, should they occur.
- The common draft rule is to back up your studs. If you have LaDainian Tomlinson, grab his backup in the draft as well. If you have Peyton Manning, grab his backup in the draft. It is a tough choice as Peyton does not get hurt, but, should it happen, would you feel more comfortable with his backup in your lineup, an untested rookie or the Jets QB?
- Another common sense rule is to not draft injury-prone players or running backs over 30 too early. It is hard to justify the reward over the risk. Drafting Deuce McAlister in the 4th round last year in many leagues was a season killer when Adrian Peterson was still available. Out of all the positions, rookies make the biggest impact in the running back category.
- The most important rule is to know your league settings. Be aware of the scoring system, waiver processing rules and all deadlines. You cannot build a balanced team unless you know how to balance the scoring across the starting positions on your team.
Once you have that accomplished, you want to review your team at the midpoint of your season and evaluate what it will look like in the playoff weeks. If you have some players that you feel may be looking at getting some rest, it is best to trade them before the trade deadline to ensure that your roster is as strong as possible during the playoffs. It is difficult to gauge how much a player will play in weeks 13-17 far in advance, but it is a big risk to go into the playoff battle with players who may sit after one half.
One alternative to that is to utilize a fantasy football feature offered by one site; Maximum Fantasy Sports. This feature is In-Game player changes. This feature can be used all season or have it turned on at a certain point in the season, such as, the first week of playoffs. Configuration of this feature allows an owner to swap in different, unplayed players at their respective positions. So, if Joseph Addai is scheduled to play the first half of Indy’s week 15 game and you have Kenton Keith on your bench, you could swap out Addai for the second half and swap in Keith to maximize performance at your running back slot.End of the Season Reflection
I hope you spend your off-season gloating about your team’s dominance. No matter how your season ends, you want to review what went wrong and what went right during your season so you can improve the following year. Also, take notes on little used players that showed a lot of promise as the season went on. In the off-season, pay attention to free agency and the NFL draft. Note which teams improved in skill areas that may result in new starters that you can draft in later rounds in your upcoming fantasy football draft. Though the NFL season ends in February, fantasy football is a year-round fixation.
Manchester United: the Team, the Coach and the Player
Once again Manchester United stands out on the English football. After surpass a bad patch of constant losses that were starting to be detrimental, made all their experience and 17 FA Premier League titles worthy by defeating Stoke City in an astounding game that finished 5-0. With this triumph the Red Devils move forward in the position table of the Premier League 2008/09.
On this occasion the power of Manchester United showed off along the game, Stoke City that tried on and on to stop the beating they were getting couldn’t reached in the right way the net of their rivals, who by the beginning of the second half were lighting the scoreboard with their third goal. Keeping their authority in the field, Manchester arrived at Stoke’s box to finish their 5-goal-massacre. The coup left Manchester with 24 points that allowed them to evict the Arsenal from the third spot to the fourth, in spite of it their still away from Chelsea and Liverpool who are the top with 32 points.
The player of the game was without a doubt the Portuguese idol Cristiano Ronaldo, author of two goals, with which exceeded the 100 goals with Manchester. This accomplishment has made Ronaldo declare publicly his satisfaction and desire for attaining FIFA’s Best Player of the Year title again and the Ballon d’Or as well; although he is aware that there are other great players, who could also be creditable for the titles as Kaká, Lionel Messi or Fernando Torres. Cristiano doesn’t seem to be pleased with just having won the Champions League and being struggling to defend the Premier League title, instead he has called himself the best football player of the world.
Currently Cristiano Ronaldo has a millionaire contract with the Red Devils for another 3 more years and a half, which could be renovated with no problems attached, since both Ronaldo and the club give the impression to have no disagreements that could make them split. Nevertheless, before this season began Ronaldo was tempted by the Real Madrid with a huge sum of money to join their line, but the star decided to stay with Manchester in the end. Currently there have been some rumors about “The Meringues” not desisting from the idea of including the Portuguese in their squad. Naturally part of the reasons for Cristiano to stay with the English team is the payment, but it as well the fact that his experience with them has been comforting.
The euphoria for the victory added to the celebration for the 50th anniversary of Sir Alex Ferguson United’s coach debut in professional football world. Era during which has achieved the biggest amount of titles in England’s football. Of those 5 decades, Ferguson has been on charge of Manchester for the last 22 years and has lead more than 1000 encounters with the Londoners. Ferguson took control over the team in November 1986, after they said goodbye to Ron Atkinson.
When Sir Ferguson incorporated he found himself with a group falling to the bottom of the league’s chart in danger of being relegated. Then it would be the Scottish, the one to take the responsibility of pushing the squad up to the top positions. Thanks to his effort the Red Devils have managed to conquest an amazing amount of honors, as well as national tournaments as international ones, among which are UEFA Champions League titles, several cups and competitions from England, an Intercontinental Cup, besides the old European Cups. What’s more they are the only club that has won the FA Premier League, FA Cup and UEFA Champions League in the same season (1998/1999).
With the victory of the last Champions League edition, the constancy of Cristiano Ronaldo, the Sir Alex Ferguson guidance and the recent ascend of the Premier League, is glimpsing a promising future for Manchester United, whom indubitably will remain in the triumph path with their characteristic winning style.
Arsenal 0-0 Sunderland – Premier League Match On 21 Feb
In the premier League match on 21st February, Arsenal had registered their third successive goalless draw this weekend and this score would prove as bonus for coming matches. This match remained draw with 0-0 scores as both teams tried their best to get lead of goal but failed. Whereas, Arsenal coach knew that winning of their team against Sunderland would bring them closer to the qualification of championship. However, the match worked in the favor only if Arsenal won it. But despite of bright performance in the first half, done by Andrew Arshavin, the players of Arsenal could not be able to break the stubborn defense of Sunderland. In the early stages, Robin Van Persie clipped a wide hot and Kolo Toure had cleared off header line in the injury time during first half. But eye catching player, Arshavin faded, that gave Arsenal a quite good chance to get a lead over their opponents. After this match, Arsenal remained unbeaten of 13 games but draw football results for further games can drop their ranking position. In the last matches, Arsenal got no victory over Tottenham in their last league match as the match drew with 0-0 score that made a run of 11 games without any loss. In last 11 matches, Arsenal got victory in 5 matches and 6 matches have got tie results which make them to earn 21 points out of 33. This excellent performance put the team in 4th position on the league table. While on other side, opponent team Sunderland beat Stoke City with good lead of 2-0 in the last match which makes them able to win consecutive three matches without any loss. Sunderland won two matches; two drawn and one lost that make them to earn 8 points out of fifteen. Last time Arsenal defeat Sunderland with 3-2 lead last year but this season when they faced each other, situation remains tie with 1-1 at both sides.Arsenal needs just four points to get 4th position in league table against Chelsea. Therefore, they tried their best to win this match as it would increase their ranking position and also brought a moment of excitement in form of live football scores. Arsenal missed the participation of Tomas Rosicky (hamstring), Emmanuel Adebayor (hamstring), and Cesc Fabregas (knee) whose absence proved not so good for the best performance of the team. It was sad to note that Sunderland fast pace and fluid approach of playing was not matched to its past performance in this match, Andy Reid crying over passes and Whitehead denied several times by Almunia. While Arsenal seemed fair not good in front of goal as they were unable to score even one goal. Anyhow, it was a great match as it would not bring any disappointment for the fans of both teams.Do not miss the reviews of this great match, just log on to ScoresPro.com to review live football action of your heroes.
